1. PERSEIDS: This is the most famous meteor shower. The Perseids produce between 50 and 80 meteors per hour. The peak occurs during the nights of August 11–13.

2. ORIONIDS: Between October 21 and 22, the Orionids produce up to 30 meteors per hour. All the fragments burning in Earth’s atmosphere originate from Comet Halley.

3. LEONIDS: The Leonids reach their peak on November 16, 17, or 18. During the maximum, around 10–15 meteors per hour can be observed.

4. GEMINIDS: During their peak, the Geminids produce between 60 and 80 meteors per hour, many of them being extremely bright fireballs (bolides). The maximum occurs around December 13–14.

5. URSIDS: Their peak occurs on December 22 or 23, with around 5–10 meteors per hour.
